Buffalo Sports Project has teamed up with Buffalo United, The Buffalo Maendeleo SC, and The Buffalo Stallions to form The Buffalo Academy of Soccer. A place where youth from all corners of the City of Buffalo can come together and enjoy the world’s most Beautiful Game!
Players in The Academy have the opportunity to train and play up to 5 days a week at various fields and facilities around the City of Buffalo. Each of the partner clubs will act as hosts for the day at their locations. Every player has at least one night of play a week in their neighborhood and can travel to another neighborhood to play on the other nights. Each partner club in The Academy has a different cultural feel and style of play, creating a true collage of experiences for players looking to advance their skills and play in a really fun and diverse soccer community.
The Academy season runs from August 1st until July 31st of the following year, but players can join any time they want. One central registration covers all play with each of the partner clubs and an academy uniform. Players are not required to attend all sessions in a week, but the more players play the better they become and the more fun they will have, so we encourage players to make as many sessions as possible.
Each session, regardless of age or host club, begins with stretching and an individual athletic activity led by our junior coaches. Next, players are challenged by our senior coaching staff in fun developmentally appropriate soccer drills designed to build individual skill and player confidence with the ball. Approximately halfway through each session, players will divide into teams and play competitive games toward a daily champion. Younger ages play similar games, but we may not keep score until they are ready.
Once registration has been completed, players will receive an email inviting them to join the Academy TeamSnap App. Through the TeamSnap App, players and family members will be able to see the complete schedule of events for the entire season and receive important updates and communications from the coaching staff. Once you have registered and accepted the TeamSnap invite you are welcome to attend all scheduled events. We do ask that each play marks their availability in the TeamSnap App for each event whether they plan to attend or not. This helps our coaching staff plan and provide the best possible experience for the players.
The Academy is a year-round program from August 1st to July 31st. Players may join at any time and only pay for the months they play. A one time registration fee of $50 is required to enter the academy. The registration fee will be applied to your first month of play. You will then receive an invoice by email for each of the months between the time of registration and the following July. For example; If you register in August you will pay a $50 registration fee which will apply to your August membership fee. You will then receive an invoice in the amount of $50 for each of the remaining 11 months until the following July for a total annual cost of $600. If you were to register in November you would receive and invoice for the remaining 8 months.
Players who live in the Buffalo Public School District and attend Buffalo Public Schools are eligible for a qualified reduction (scholarship) of their membership fee. If your player meets the scholarship requirements and you would like to be considered, please fill out the online registration application. Click on the checkbox to request a scholarship, select additional payment options, and then select pay with cash at the end of the registration process. Your application for Scholarship will be reviewed and you will receive an invoice by email for the balance of fees after a scholarship reduction. Once players are registered, they may start attending the Academy. If a scholarship is unavailable for a player who requests one, they will not be charged for the time they play between registration and determination of scholarship if they choose not to continue without a scholarship.
Players who wish to pause or cancel their membership (for example; to play another sport or participate in another activity) may do so by emailing our membership team at: Membership@BuffaloUnited.Org and requesting a pause or cancellation.
If a player would like to return to play after a break you can simply email us again at: Membership@BuffaloUnited.Org and let us know your player is returning to play.
